OdD :: Long Time Coming (Sol Asylum)

2014 ushers in a brand new label launch in the shape of Sol Asylum—straight out of Berlin. Built originally around parties thrown by Julie Marghilano, Sol Asylum has now extended into record label and collective including Miss Jools and Patrice Meiner.

Their ethos is to ‘create a family of emerging producers’ and we certainly can’t argue with that especially as the intended sounds will range from deep house to experimental and forward thinking intelligent techno.

This, their first release, features London based duo (OdD) who serve up an enticing cocktail of low slung atmospheric house and tripped beat business. Addictive driving bass patterns power the four tracks alongside plenty of synapse tweaking sounds. It’s the kind of stuff you’ll hear at a proper after hours set up—designed to keep your feet moving and your head engaged despite the creeping realization that you’ve been frugging away and smiling at the same faces around you for at least six hours straight. A very fine label debut.
