(03.30.06) It’s hard to believe, but I felt it would be a good idea to let Igloo Magazine readers know about a good friend of mine, Jay Jedlicka (Coredump Records, label-head), who passed away this week on Monday, March 27th, 2006 at the early age of 30.
While it’s difficult to describe the effect Jay had on the electronic music scene in a few words, it’s quite easy to say that he was an amazing person full of passion for what he believed in; the music. I still recall, even to this day, when he asked me what I thought of Coredump as a record label name several years ago; a musical platform that would soon become home to Venetian Snares, Ra, Vendor Refill and Proem. From those early days of establishing his imprint and footprint in the scene, Jay plugged away by releasing a small handful of quality releases that still get rotation to this day. I only knew Jay on a musical level, and never actually met him face-to-face, but from our correspondence via email, it will always be clear to me that he was dedicated to his craft and promoting what he believed in.
Jay was always a positive, sincere, compassionate and a very generous person and will be sorely missed. Condolences to his family and friends.
