‘Twas the turn of the century and up in the bedroom, the home studio was being championed by labels like City Centre Offices, Morr Music, Clear, deFocus, Neo Ouija, Merck or n5MD and was fast becoming a powerhouse for some of the most innovative and eclectic material to appear on the electronic music scene in some time.

Berlin was a vibrant hub for this output in which both Christian Kleine and CCO head Thaddeus Hermann became pivotal movers in a fast-growing cult roster of influential artists whose creativity—born out of the need to push boundaries with limited resources—resulted in a staggering array of musical experiments and unique styles.

Taking jungle, drum ‘n bass and the wildly creative IDM artists on CCO as his primary influences, Christian Kleine went about forging his distinctive melting-pot of introspective, highly melodic and hazy electronic music, often in tandem with Hermann as one half of Hermann and Kleine.
