[Release page] Wandermüde is an exquisite silky fabric, woven from the combined threads of German sound artist Stephan Mathieu and the highly acclaimed David Sylvian. It explores the more tranquil electronic personas, delivering experimental drone-esque forms and lambently fuelled themes. As a whole, it’s a fine painting that can only be framed as electro-acoustic artistry, exhibiting a fine interpretation of David Sylvian’s Blemish, and driving forth a futuristic model that shines brilliantly—as if styled specifically to sit within its own elegant chamber.

This instrumental collection is blended throughout and delivers cascades of haunting tones, flooded with pools of tranquil retreats and gentle showers of suspense. Full of on-going mystique and occasional oriental flame, the rich tones enfold themselves around the listener, providing a lightweight cloak of sonic mysteries. The story delivers an on-going sense of intrigue, painting an island so blissfully entwined with its own natural forces—breathing new life into every corner of its own unique world.

This questioning display continues throughout, probing its subject without so much as reaching heated debate. Instead, it drives a sombre toned trip—the persuasive elements of “Telegraphed Mistakes” glowing brightly however—glistening with sharpened signals of infinite awareness, and pitching high upon the mountain with its stance.

Overall, an enthralling work that blends tremendously into a unit of complete opulence and serenity. Delightfully paced, “Deceleration” is a pond of tuneful beauty which displays scenic ripples of subtle guitar distortions, carefully positioned, occasional dissonance blended alongside the sharper, clearer tones of the fresh waters.

The presentation of the physical release is as you’d expect in terms of visual representation and takes the form of a digipak, featuring photography by Vincent Fournier and art direction by David Sylvian.

Wandermüde is available on Samadhisound. [Release page]
