Bovaflux :: RedZeroSeven (Struktur)

To promote their first release Struktur Records have sent out a 2-track credit card sized CD. Ultra limited to just 51 copies and packaged in a special plastic pouch with custom insert, it is hand numbered and custom labelled, acting as an immediately intriguing promotional device. The tracks included on the CD are both by Bovaflux, who is involved in the running of the label as well as making a contribution as a recording artist.

Both tracks last a total of around 5 and half minutes and act as an excellent teaser to the full 5-track RedZeroSeven compilation to follow on Struktur. The first track, “Liquid Past”, is a mellow catchy tune with a funky guitar, fuzzy low-key beats, distinct yet soothing synth melodies and an alien sounding processed voice. “The Smell of Old Balloons” is equally gentle and chilled out, if not more so than “Liquid Past”. Lasting just over a minute, “The Smell of Old Balloons” again features synth melodies and slow deliberate beats.

Excellently designed and instantly attention grabbing, the CD performs it’s desired function admirably. The music it holds is both relaxing and melodic, and if it is an indicator of what to expect from the full RedZeroSeven release it should be well worth tracking down a copy.
