A fascinating listening experience

Eight darker strewn industrial-dub strands are presented by Lost Cat Magnet (aka Ricardo Acevedo) on Experiments in Terra. Those darker threads bend and twist on “Trip don’t Fall,” where squelching videogame synth swells take over the landscape while heavy-beat artillery persists. The mysterious ambient flutter on “Barbarians at the gates” takes us through far away places; its buildup and cascading flux intermixed with hypnotic drum patches furthers the audio experiment. Organic and lively instrumentation takes shape on “Lens Flare,” its subdued and detuned guitar elements creating just enough claustrophobic vibration to keep the album afloat, while “Radio on the moon” expands its reach via atmospheric dronescapes and undulating textural tones. Closing with the title track, Lost Cat Magnet traverses extraterrestrial terrain where hundreds of minuscule bits and pieces interact and fizzle with dub-laden and laidback gauzy electronics. In all, a fascinating listening experience where broken and dilapidated soundscapes seek refuge.

Experiments in Terra is available on Heterodox. [Bandcamp]
