AV8R :: Sun Salutation (High Grade Media)

Experimental, IDM, dub and ambient simmer as world influences melt in a smorgasbord of organic audio soup.

AV8R

[Release page] AV8R‘s Sun Salutation is scented with reverse-washed loops reminiscent of Boards Of Canada (ie. title track) and an off-kilter douse of hip-hop inspired by early Skam-era Push Button Objects (ie. “Ophiuchus Part 1”). Lightly brushed distortion, drenched bass and even a slice of funked dubstep rolls over this instrumental smattering of saturated frequencies. Seemingly out of nowhere, AV8R crafts a lighthearted, almost unearthly charm that is developed and heavily detailed. Eight tracks infused with low-tumbling bass in your face, organized chaos and rhythmic flexibility keeps Sun Salutation gravitating towards uncharted fields brimming with iridescent light. A careful balance of unfettered songwriting has these slices of dope-filled electronics skittering through deeply-woven layers while keeping a focus on fluid constructs. In one instant you’ll hear downtempo indie-rock just as sonic shadows of DSP-to-ESP are revealed. If you’re looking for a start-to-finish album that doesn’t take itself too seriously but maintains an eclectic spark, look no further than this collection. Experimental, IDM, dub and ambient simmer as world influences melt in a smorgasbord of organic audio soup.

Sun Salutation is available on High Grade Media. [Release page]
