Yuzo Kako :: Distillation (Cross, CD)

Distillation clicks, snaps and glitters with electrical frequencies that displays a struggle between organic and digital compositions. At times you’re left in a sea of cascading Morse code ambience only to be washed away by a digital burst of minimal rhythms poking at you from every angle. Evaporating branches of analog tweaks are collected and mixed with subtle elements of atmospheric chaos. Could this be classified as minimalism at its finest, or a story that sheds a subliminal message? “Boil,” “Flux,” “Gush,” “Leakage,” and “Winter_Drop” all seem to point to a futuristic fabric in space that could very well satisfy extraterrestrial life forms on other planets.

Yuzo Kako breathes life into robotic machines and crafts a language of electrical confusion from start to finish. Perhaps several years ahead of itself, Distillation will certainly appeal to fans of Mille Plateaux, 12K et al with its abstract vibration and analog magnetism.
