V/A :: World Electronix Volume 2 (Cultivated Electronics)

To date the World Electronix series has focused on the mechanically minded men of Europe, those exploring the cold, often clinical, ice moons of electro. The project has seen layers of complexity arrive to the often puritanical sound, new structures being built on the foundation of the old.

Cultivated Electronics (logo)[Purchase page] At the end of the Summer of 2012 Cultivate Electronics started with the first in their World Electronix series. Following Britain’s cold snap, who can blame label boss Sync 24 for once again looking globally for warmer climates but ever more frigid sounds.

Up first is the always excellent The Exaltics. Witschakowski is still under the intoxicating influence of his latest EP on Solar One Music, The Exaltics Meet Elec PT.1, as twisted acid metal is unleashed in “Ten Days.” The track is a marauding brute, 303 pillaging with a savage decimating beat. A cracking opener. Label boss Sync 24 arrives next for a darkened piece of straight-up electro. Beats form the central column, around which the man at the helm weaves warbling computer tones and unsettling tweaked lines. Sync 24 follows onto the flip, this time teaming up with fellow label founder Deixis (of Abstract Forms). The sinister tones of the predecessor are present, this time the mechanised assault is amplified for an electro attack. To close, Michael Diekmann, of Morphology, unlocks his CRC alias. The often IDM edged CRC offers a serving of cold hard acid. Edged beats chop before a 303 lands to dominate the landscape and raze the record to the floor.

The World Electronix series is still in its infancy but already rings with maturity. To date the series has focused on the mechanically minded men of Europe, those exploring the cold, often clinical, ice moons of electro. The project has seen layers of complexity arrive to the often puritanical sound, new structures being built on the foundation of the old. A quality second addition the world of electronix.
