Unidentified :: #002 (Shimmering Moods)

A wide sonic spectrum where ghostly aerial tones meet micro noises and altered melodic weirdness.

The constellation of DIY indie labels never ceased to grow up during the past years and Shimmering Moods is now one crucial actor in this field of musical editions. This micro label offers high-quality printed albums assorted by digitals—the whole thing very handcrafted. A few sound artists welcome by Shimmering Moods really deserve a mention for their distinctive works in the minimal folk, ambient venture—I’m notably thinking about Glimlicht and Giuseppe Falivene. Shimmering Moods always make an active then generous effort to give and demonstrate support to new bands and artists who devote their production in the realms of chill-out, chilling textured ambient at its most serene, heart-warming side. With two new albums published this month, let’s have a closer listen on the very enigmatic and placed under radars project named Unidentified.

Unidentified’s #002 provides a wide sonic spectrum where ghostly aerial tones meet micro noises and altered melodic weirdness. A vague feeling of dreaminess prevails all along the album. The listener is submerged by a delicate cloud of sounds, partly soothing, unobtrusive and hypnotic. More melodious emotional ambient parts are sometimes punctuated by more IDM breakbeat sequences. A pleasant downtempo ambient release with its high moments. Somewhere between Eno’s instrumentals in “Another Green World,” Roedelius’ impressionistic musical qualities, and the percolating ambient techno rhythms of Oval.

#002 is available on Shimmering Moods.
