Two Lone Swordsmen :: Sex Beat + Big Silver Shining Motor of Sin EP’s (Warp, CD/12")

929 image 1(02.21.05) The Gun Club’s Jeffrey Lee Pierce once crooned “we can fuck forever but you’ll never get my soul” spinning many a punk’s frenzied head
circa 1981. These days, getting a modern update by the creatures of the night including sir Andrew Weatherall, the song has the original’s hacksaw edge with a flippant flare that is on fire and rivets techno bullets like an AK47. So, even after several moons without hyde nor hair of these Two Lone Swordsmen The Double Gone Chapel is something to genuflect for after all. Four extended versions are better than one at 3:37 (approx.)!

Now, the Big Silver Shining Motor of Sin EP takes it to another level, adding new flavors to your already well-seasoned Sex Beat rant (adding another two versions) along with four additional tracks and mixes. Starting with “Showbizz Shotguns,” this instantly bumps and grinds its way to center stage in the way that say My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult once did. It’s a cockney, rockin’ cock-up so Crank It! They sing about big white teeth and big black cars, who doesn’t love that. Makes me growl and purr at the same time. Renders me hopeless, I’m melting. “Feast” is a sermon from the mount of the senses, indeed. This whole thing’s got attitude as it revs and reverses; Takes it’s guise from Captain Sensible, Shreikback with a snarling twinge of Iggy Pop for good measure. Plenty to share here.  And the song plays on…

Sex Beat and Big Silver Shining Motor of Sin EP’s are both out now on Warp.
