To Destroy A City ‘Rebuild’

[Release page] Seven tracks spread across approximately forty-minutes and Rebuild presents a restructuring of the Chicago-based trio’s self-titled album.  Rather than dissecting the originals, n5MD have seamlessly woven these renderings into a cosmos of swirling post-classical, ambient, shoegaze, minimal and muted technoid forms. As a collection of remixes, Rebuild pours its tranquilized melodies and effervescent moods gracefully as each musician re-configures the already subdued pulse of the original pieces. Shifted ambience and fuzzy synths played an integral role previously and are now transformed on this extended player. As Solar Fields offers a lullaby intro of atmospheric pressure and creative elevation, Connectedness Locus veers into dark quarters filled with spacious and scattered textures. Dalot and M. Szarejko create vast sound escapes of distilled techno just as Winterlight’s version taps into a lush field of emotive/classical constructs. Lights Out Asia floats by with a vocalized blurr that treads on familiar ambient crevasses of the original leaving Boy Is Fiction to pick up the pieces as saturated shoegaze plateaus are elevated with lively instrumentation. Rebuild presents a simmering melting-pot of transitional forces left to fade away into a maze of harmony, nostalgia, solace, frustration and calm—all somehow rolled into one piece. The rebuilt structure of the original is now complete thanks to this audio assemblage.

Rebuild is available on n5MD. [Release page]
