Steve Hauschildt :: Dissolvi (Ghostly International)

The framework for the record is largely minimalistic techno but could please listeners of downtempo, IDM, and ambient lovers alike. An ideal album for times of introspection and contemplation. Dissolvi really delivers a sense of serenity to the listener.

Steve Hauschildt’s first album for Ghostly International is a concentrated collaboration effort guided by former member of the psychedelic noise group, Emeralds. From the opening arpeggio of “M Path,” Dissolvi really delivers a sense of serenity to the listener. The title track which happens to be the closing track, begins with bit-crushed pulses evolving throughout, and concludes with reverberated tones. Although a largely instrumental affair, you will find gorgeous, understated vocal layers from Julianna Barwick on the track “Saccade” and by GABI (Gabrielle Herbst) on “Syncope.” Songs like “Phantox” and “Alienself” deliver dense melodic environments held together by crunchy, intelligent rhythms. Contributions from Rafael Anton Irisarri (The Sight Below), Taylor Deupree, and Orlando Mendez are collected, and seamlessly bound together to form a radiant array of atmospheres. Swirling synth pads and arpeggios coupled with evolving percussive work give the album a lot of stereo movement that will tickle the ear drums. The framework for the record is largely minimalistic techno but could please listeners of downtempo, IDM, and ambient lovers alike. An ideal album for times of introspection and contemplation. Give it a spin, it won’t disappoint! Favorite track: “Alienself.”

Dissolvi is available on Ghostly International.
