Plant43 ‎:: Radiant Flux (Central Processing Unit)

Electro meets Electronica for science fiction sculptures filled with analogue texture and depth.

Over the past few years Emile Facey (aka Plant43) has built an impressive discography. Across labels like Ai Records, Semantica and AC Records, Facey has developed his brand of warm soundscapes laced with clinical coldness. Electro meets Electronica for science fiction sculptures filled with analogue texture and depth. Facey bends the definitions, leaning towards pared back moments of IDM complexity.

The title piece meets the listener first. BPMs are high as Facey showers icicle-like chords before unveiling the full truth of the piece is revealed. Heightened echoes descend in both a raw and wonderful breath. “Cold Operator” follows with stark Dopplereffekt style chords, crisp notes roll and echo into the beyond. Northern winds envelope while sharp synths soar above brittle constructs. Cerebral sounds materialize with Facey’s trademark ability to draw the listener into his brutalised beauty. Broad strokes of bass push the night-sky onwards as “Cogs are Turning” is contained in controlled isolation. Beats and bass congeal to form dense islands where lilting lines bleep into the stratosphere.

Plant43 is a true talent in the world of electronics. Coming from a place similar to E.R.P., Facey molds tight spheres of sound amongst intricate harmonies with a predilection for classic drum patterns. A superbly subtle piece of stratified electronics, Facey blending warmth with the harsh chill of metal and machine.
