Oxyd :: Liveforms (Signifier / Aliens Production)

Liveforms remains thoroughly engaged as it elevates thin veils of dark-ambient passages covered in nebulous sheets of chaotic beauty.

Oxyd 'Liveforms'

Liveforms - Oxyd Oxyd presents a darkened grove of Lifeforms-era FSOL—full ambient propulsion amidst slivers of percussion and meandering solace. Symphonic maneuvers through unlit corridors and a lost world filled with whispered echoes, random vocal samples and Gregorian chants are filtered through cold breezes, solemn notes and a dosage of emotive basslines floating in the distance. A mystery fueled space that simply doesn’t let up, Liveforms is a rare recording of live performances following Oxyd’s 2009 release of Astral Border. As a side-project from the members of Disharmony (Tympanik Audio / Aliens Production), Liveforms exudes a wide-range of organic-enriched tribal strands that cycle in and out of view with repeated listens. Drifting alongside drone-infused terrain without falling off the edges, layers of fog, dust, waves and bass percolate around fractured synths. Each piece inherently tied to each other—as the cover artwork suggests—an industrial facade emerges from a turbulent undercurrent hinting at the artists’ rhythm-based mechanics of past outings. And even with all of the above reflective shadows, Liveforms remains thoroughly engaged as it elevates thin veils of dark-ambient passages covered in nebulous sheets of chaotic beauty.
