Otto Von Schirach :: Chopped Zombie Fungus (Schematic, CD)

Chopped Zombie Fungus collects three massive vinyl 12″ EP’s including Boombonic Plague, Pelican Moondance & Earjuice Synthesis, that have been storming headphones worldwide onto their first-ever CD release. With influences like Phoenecia, Mr. Soundwave, Todd Dockstader, Freestyle Fellowship, and Kool Kieth to name a few, Cuban-American Otto Von Schirach has been mutating his musical machines into breathing entities full of distorted funk, decomposed melodies, and corrupt mechanical beats in the form of electro..

While sound isn’t the easiest thing to describe with words, it’s easy to say the Otto Von Schirach’s passionate electro mayhem definitely sets him apart and in a field of his own. The digitally de-constructed textures on Chopped Zombie Fungus display frustrated rhythms and obscure vocal extracts sporadically placed around all the tracks. While a few arrangements seem to come from a dysfunctional Freak Circus explosion, there are several elements of direct, in-your-face electro/punk anthems (“Boombonic Plague”) that truly make a difference on this excellently packaged CD.

Did we mention the artwork yet? Well.. when art and music are in sync with each other, you get a good sense of the overall theme/mood of that particular piece of music. In the case of Chopped Zombie Fungus, we are introduced to an other-worldly rendering of surreal human/musical robots walking on the face of the earth with explosions forming the landscape and bassbin driven military tanks shielding the atmosphere. Basically, it’s evident that the art reflects the music quite well. This is the point that should be made clear. Even with the off-centered electronic propulsions, Otto Von Schirach really does know how to groove. Using machine funk tied to vivid electro bass infusions, he manages to chop the zombie fungus and feed it to the listener on one shiny circular disc. What a treat..

“Although under constant multilateral surveillance, you can put aside any worries that you may have incurred for Dr. Von Schirach has only the best interests of the human race at heart: to push all sonic boundaries to the edge, implode the funk, and stand back while art splatters skulls.” –All music mangled, queefed, and decomposed by Otto Von Schirach, the third breathe closer, separate unbilical plug for ear wax moth shake”

Is that good enough for you? Have a listen..
