Oliwa :: Naturalia (Twice Removed)

Naturalia is a brief album whose warm minimalism manages to recapture some of the thrill and strangeness felt upon hearing electronic music for the very first time.

Opening with a title track that is as baroque as Bach accompanying the virgin sacrifice ceremony on King Kong´s island, Oliwa lightens the mood dramatically with “Eterna,” embarking into the deep space of synthesizer history while remaining utterly contemporary. “Amoeba” gasps at the wonder of the universe and leaves you pondering whether we pass through it or it passes through us. “S is for Space” is the on-board computer of an unmanned flight calculating its next task. With its great, arching tones, “Passionaria” erects a grand basilica, and “Shockwave” twists a tie-dyed drone. Naturalia is a brief album whose warm minimalism manages to recapture some of the thrill and strangeness felt upon hearing electronic music for the very first time.
