Nick Edwards :: Plekzationz (Editions Mego)

Plekzationz is a propulsive and interlocking cosmic mechanical electronic artifact which combines really impressive surreal sound textures with the living tradition of abrasive noisy drone music. A rare sonic intensity and a highly welcomed effort in the universe of post-modern electronic art.

Nick Edwards ‘Plekzationz’

[Release page] Mostly known for his uncompromised droned-out and noisy sonic explorations in Ekoplekz, Nick Edwards has recently signed his latest solo effort Plekzationz on the renowned Editions Mego. The musical aesthetism is focused on heavy processed treatments, rumbling drones and intensively ecstatic-neurotropical moves. The content provides a vast assemblage of collage sounds, massively echoing, lysergic and fuzzed out electric droning frequencies, vibrant cyber noises. Obsessional, frenzy, abstract, cerebral, cinematic and extremely trippy, this superb album admits relevant connections with classic and hyper-spacey krauty electronica from the 70s (notably its most experimental side from early Conrad Schnitzler, to Cluster and Seesselberg). The sound morphologies are sometimes covered by pulsating minimal electro drums such as in the menacing and eerie “Escape from 79”. The super active “Inside the analog continuum” reveals some comparisons with early Klaus Schulze’s “Cyborg,” not so much for the use of long astral synth tones than for the presence of vertiginous noisy dynamics.

Plekzationz is a propulsive and interlocking cosmic mechanical electronic artifact which combines really impressive surreal sound textures with the living tradition of abrasive noisy drone music. Despite the presence of recognizable schemas, the sound architecture is completely unique and incorporates a great dose of challenging compositional ingredients. A rare sonic intensity and a highly welcomed effort in the universe of post-modern electronic art.
