Matteo Uggeri, Luca Mauri, Francesco Giannico :: Pagetos (Boring Machines)

An intense-ecological sounding ambient release, amazingly covered by melodious post-structural dreamtime sequences.

Matteo Uggeri ‘Pagetos’

Pagetos is the fourth and final chapter of the Between the elements quadrilogy. This project has been conceived a couple of years ago. It features the presence of many acclaimed figures of the Italian underground electronic art (Luca Bergero, Andrea Ferraris, Andrea Marutti to name a few) and is headed by Matteo Uggeri (inspired by the driven conceptual philosophy of Maurizio Bianchi and his alchemical-hermetic views on sound design).

[Release page] In this last opus Matteo Uggeri is accompanied by Luca Mauri and Francesco Giannico. Pagetos is the great follow of the previous chapter Meerkat which delivered an array of intricate, highly abstract and stimulating sound genealogies, attempting to translate in music the allegorical power and symbolical constellation of properties which emanate from smoke as a microphysical phenomenon. Pagetos includes a wide diversity of digital green field recordings sustained by solid chamber post-rocking ambiences—admiting warmer meditative inflections than Meerkat which was centered on deeply spacious static drones and processed noises. Pagetos sounds more like a collection of fragile pop ambient pieces made of intimate-heartbreaking acoustic chants (ie. “Ground frost breeding”), abstract minimal impressionism (the lovely “Calaverna”) and monotonous expressive dronescapes (“Icy Leaves”), weird interlude atonalism. An intense-ecological sounding ambient release, amazingly covered by melodious post-structural dreamtime sequences. A meditative apex which conciliates to perfection the orchestrated and emotional facets of the discreet post-rock universe of Sparkle in Grey with the ominously sonic experiments of Matteo Uggeri (Hue) in solo. Highly recommended.

Pagetos is available on Bandcamp.
