Kettel :: Ibb & Obb (Sending Orbs)

Bach-like varying a single theme twenty-six times, he brings texture and depth to the bubbles and angles of Ibb and Obb‘s world, and their soundtrack makes for plummy, citrusy closed-eyed entertainment.

Charmingly warm set of pixelated doodles warped and wefted by Dutch electronic master Kettel into a fluid, living tapestry. Ibb & Obb is the original score for a Playstation game in which two avatars gambol through a “non-Newtonian” world in “joyful collaboration and intense puzzle-solving.” The game is attractively animated, like Alexander Calder mobiles being hopped around on by figures as cute and simple as buttons.

Kettel was commissioned to create the game’s background music, but he proves too clever to just be complementary. Smartly and sophisticatedly and somewhat Bach-like varying a single theme twenty-six times, he brings texture and depth to the bubbles and angles of Ibb and Obb‘s world, and their soundtrack makes for plummy, citrusy closed-eyed entertainment.

Ibb & Obb is available on Sending Orbs.
