Glimlicht :: Expressionistic Chrome (Shimmering Moods)

An absorbing, isolationist and ghostly ambient release that will ravish fans of William Basinski, The Caretaker, and Philip Jeck’s intoxicating, mnemonic electronic melancholia. Tremendously hypnotic and looped-based ambient work built on short repetitive fragments, with sombre, eerie and melancholic distorted micro melodies.

One of our favorite DIY indie labels is back with a new release to start the year with delicious and colorfully emotional tone colors. Shimmering Moods welcomes Glimlicht, a charming, craft based sonic minimal ambient project which published in complete discretion a few tapes and digital releases. Titled Expressionistic Chrome, this new Glimlicht release is a tremendously hypnotic and looped-based ambient work built on short repetitive fragments, with sombre, eerie and melancholic distorted micro melodies. The whole aesthetic ambience is extremely blurry, opaque, languid, wounded and somnambulic. A sinister, tearful then dreamy like atmosphere prevails all along the album, transporting the listener in a nebulous astral voyage, to the confines of life itself. This is quite an absorbing, isolationist and ghostly ambient release that will ravish fans of William Basinski, The Caretaker, and Philip Jeck’s intoxicating, mnemonic electronic melancholia. Easily recommended.

Expressionistic Chrome is available on Shimmering Moods.
