Fescal :: Ideas of Noise (Lona)

Ideas of Noise entices the listener to lean in to his rough-hewn creations, beyond the fuzzy grit and static, allowing an image or feeling form in his or her mind as each notion proposed by the artist emerges in greater clarity, like an audio autostereogram.

On this four-track, three-inch disc, ideas are broached as graceful, circuitousness melodies wrapped in thorns and thistles. Fescal makes a tousled ambient music that calls to mind fractal geometrist Benoit Mandelbrot’s theory of roughness—”clouds are not spheres, mountains are not cones, coastlines are not circles, and bark is not smooth…”

Ideas of Noise entices the listener to lean in to his rough-hewn creations, beyond the fuzzy grit and static, allowing an image or feeling form in his or her mind as each notion proposed by the artist emerges in greater clarity, like an audio autostereogram. As the mind focuses, the listener becomes an active participant on the other end of his sophisticated but magnetic conceptualizations.
