Esoteric Sob ‘Nostalgia’

It would seem that by the artwork and title of Esoteric Sob‘s new collection of sonic bubbles that he would delve into the subconscious to unearth long-forgotten memories and moments of bliss. As Nostalgia begins to take flight, the artist does just that—taking various ambient streams of delicate melodies, soft chords and swirling atmospherics to transport the listener to a subdued and uplifting place. While this music transmits microscopic clarity, tracks like “Memories,” “Nostalgia” and “Speak To Me (w/ Ocoeur)” resemble lost fragments of early Morr Music releases—a lapse in space, broken up by various popping clips and flowing strings that exhibit peace and calm amongst a flutter of warm electronics. Perhaps best absorbed in late evenings, Esoteric Sob carefully crafts a lighthearted amalgam of fragile movements and also presents vocals on the downtempo eclipse of “Everyday Stories” with Kara Russel of vox. An eventual migration of slow-moving bits of IDM falls apart for the listener to piece back together and instead of breaking new ground, Esoteric Sob cultivates the landscape with astute attention. Nostalgia could best be described as a vehicle that represents various connotations of ambience where emotions are tethered to serene patches of beatwork and fuzzy melodious extracts. Quite sublime.

Nostalgia is available on 33. [Release page]
