Enabl.ed :: Disabled (Lovethechaos)

Scorched hip-hop flavored electronics, chopped rhythms and staccato beats are delivered with a pinch of emotional undertones.

Enabl.ed 'Disabled'

Lovethechaos, the art-electronica label from Barcelona, Spain are back at it once again with a slick piece of heavyweight vinyl, this time from Jimmy Batista (aka Enabl.ed). Disabled flows with an unforgivable style that harkens back to the early days of Schematic, Merck, n5MD et al. Scorched hip-hop flavored electronics, chopped rhythms and staccato beats are delivered with a pinch of emotional undertones. Without delving into the mechanics of this release, Enabl.ed seemingly creates vast sound-escapes with a minimal analog feel, while still being able to paint a futuristic audio picture. Seven relatively short tracks with track names like “Disabled.love,” “Disabled.sleep,” “Disabled.waiting” do very little in terms of stylistically changing. With that being said, had Disabled been a continuous 1-track piece, it would definitely be a rewarding mind-trip rather than a mixture of similar sounding deconstructive electrical movements. Sounding like a cross between Richard Devine and older Metamatics, Enabl.ed does bring a certain artistic flair to the current IDM scene.

Crafted in luxurious packaging, Lovethechaos always manages to represent their roster of talent with a visual appeal that is unsurpassed. Will Disabled get lost in the abundance of lullaby frequencies surrounding it, or will it stand on its own? We’re pretty sure that armchair listeners who appreciate clean and crisp audio distractions will gravitate towards Disabled, especially due to its limited release nature.
