Emptyset :: Medium (Subtext)

This is really not a place you want to spend more time than necessary, and at only twenty-one minutes (though released as a full-sized CD in a handsome, if equally grim six-panelled wallet), you can just stand it.

[Release page] You’ve never heard music more terrifyingly bereft of hope than Emptyset’s. The Bristol duo’s beats aren’t broken, they are fatally wounded, the last nerve impulses leaving a dying entity. The music, as it were, sounds like the last ghost of electricity dragging its chains down the bare corridor of an abandoned fallout shelter. “Interstice” is the liveliest track, if only because of its torturous enthusiasm, but “Divide” is so decrepit, it can barely maintain forward momentum. “Mirror” is ugly as black fungas on a gargoyle. This is really not a place you want to spend more time than necessary, and at only twenty-one minutes (though released as a full-sized CD in a handsome, if equally grim six-panelled wallet), you can just stand it.
