Eff Dst :: Blackout (Hymen)

Dense, fluid, and evolved, piano keys embark on soundtrack-driven environments as a propulsive bass assault shimmies its way throughout.

Somewhere in the mist between foggy, dark industrial-tinged tones and lighter dub-ambient washes, Eff Dst (aka Belarus-based Sound Engineer, Dmitry Stepnov) delivers a contagious electronic album for Hymen titled Blackout.

Dense, fluid, and evolved, piano keys embark on soundtrack-driven environments as a propulsive bass assault shimmies its way throughout. Also prevalent is the mixture of sharpened technoid audio spheres where Eff Dst’s signature really shines. Some might relate to the Bola versus Kattoo dynamic seemingly interspersed—deep rolling rhythms and organized harmonic backdrops are carefully sculpted—no details left behind.

As a result, Blackout aims for leftfield, but its downtempo audio plateau hits the sweet spot with extreme accuracy. A well thought out—and now perhaps even sought out—album to open the second quarter of 2017. Emotional and impacting, delicate and chiseled electronics.

Blackout is available on Hymen.
