Dekode :: Dying Star EP (Pripyat)

Dekode sheds metallic electronics in a brisk apocalyptic envelope filled with scorched and maximized alien manifestations.

Dekode (aka Darko Kolar) and Croatia-based Pripyat are on a mission to expose human nature’s caliginous side in an attempt to evoke a positive result through musical induction. Dedicated to Chernobyl disaster victims, much in line with LBHA’s recent Reactor 4 release by Talos, Dekode reconfigures noise into sonic shapes worth noting. Succeeding at questioning the proverbial system, Dying Star elicits a darkened brew of acidic mechanical electro-industrial slabs on both the title piece and “Lost Transmission.”

There’s not a whole lot in terms of emotional tugging on Dying Star, however, a direct and menacing rhythmic sandblast is in full effect. Nonima tosses “Lost Transmission” into a blender, causing a fierce rolling bassline to swirl and sway until finally a sense of humankind appears in engaging forms via a buried synth line. Datacrashrobot closes the proceedings with “Dying Star” (remixed) and takes it to supernova; busted low-end and tactical percussive crunching explodes effortlessly.

Overall, Dekode sheds metallic electronics in a brisk apocalyptic envelope filled with scorched and maximized alien manifestations.

Dying Star is available on Pripyat. [Release page]
