Darren McClure :: Fata Morgana Live Performance (Data.Wave)

An evocative, soothing, beatless and diaphanous electronic album which seeks illusionary and infinite spaces.

Darren McClure is a sound artist based in Japan, specializing in glitch-ambient microtonalism (ref. Oval, Microstoria) and in lowercase music (Steve Roden, Bernard Gunters, Yann Novak et al.) Active since 2007 McClure has published a handful of releases for small indie net-labels and DIY musical editions. In this new album titled Fata Morgana Darren McClure carries on his conceptual and sensitive explorations on timbres, sinuous textures, resonances and tiny sonic details. The soundscapes are endlessly droning, punctuated by discreet swirls of field recordings, strangely percolated noises. The whole sound tapestry approaches a state of mysterious quiescence, meditative bliss and a liminal mental posture. Next to more abstract-experimental elements, the album has clear introspective somnolent qualities that will ravish fans of minimal electronic ambient music with dreamy wings. As suggested by its title, Fata Morgana is an evocative, soothing, beatless and diaphanous electronic album which seeks illusionary and infinite spaces.

Fata Morgana is available on Data.Wave.
