Clark :: Throttle Furniture (Warp, CD3)

(03.08.06) Throttle Furniture begins with “Herr Bar,” a track that follows the sound of Ceramics Is The Bomb with crunchy beats and carillon melodies, and that will be featured also on the album. The exclusives are more interesting: “Re-Scar Klin” is a wicked exercise in acid breakbeat that easily surpasses most of the Analord indigestion, while the real monster is “Urgent Jell Hack,” a mutant drum’n’bass tune pumped with heavily distorted snares and grinding synths. “Frau Wav” is another acidic piece, where a joyful melody bounces over a square beat and a deep bass (ask my woofer). After all this rhythmic stuff, “Dusk Swells” chills out for six minutes, a long vibrating and moving beatless outro that leaves an obsessive question in your mind: when will be that damned album be released?.

Being a Warpmart exclusive it could be hard to get for most, after all it’s the typical collector’s item, but if you’re a hardcore fan of (Chris) Clark you should try to buy a copy and entertain yourself while waiting for the serious stuff.

Throttle Furniture is out now on Warp.
