X0X Records isn’t a label in a rush. The last time this Finnish imprint released I was still in my 20s. But what it lacks in a release schedule it makes up for in quality, no nonsense electro and then some. Biodread’s Game Over EP is the inspiration as four machine minded musicians turn their hands for a remix 12”.

CRC, aka Michael Diekmann, gets the show on the road with his acid drenched interpretation of “Armed and Operational.” The pace set is a fast one, snares sniping as 303 waves rise and colder currents flow. Diekmann is the omnipresent figure of the A-Side, teaming up with his partner in crime Matti Turunen as Morphology take on “No Hope.” Those frigid tones of “Armed and Operational” are present but warmer notes are present. A track that balances autumnal and winter shades in a wonderful remix, classic Morphology. Luke Eargoggle teams up with Kan3da for a dark and bitterly cold revision of “Judgemental”. Vocoders are cranked up to cybernetic psychopath levels as lyrics are croaked out over ghosting synth-lines. Sero offers the elephant on the record. An electro-funk firestorm is delivered for his ideas on “Armed and Operational.” Dynamix II cutting and scratching with some serious nods to the godfathers of the sound in a cracking take.

You’re pretty much guaranteed solid electro with X0X. Maybe that’s down to their “picky” releasing schedule, but I’d say it’s more down to the artists they work with. Three cuts of cold and thoughtful machine music with one track of party popping pleasure. What more would ya want?
