Ben Rath :: Forgiveness (Sound In Silence)

Forgiveness explores melancholic and grey textural drone ambiences with a dialogue between processed sounds (notably taken from the piano and the electric guitar), looped electronic patterns and mind-tripping reversed treatments.

Ben Rath :: Forgiveness (Sound In Silence)

Young multi-faceted artist with roots into experimental ambient and instrumental shoegaze music Ben Rath already published no less than six full-length releases the last few years. Those releases were self-released ones or produced by Cathedral Transmissions, Triple Moon among others. This highly productive sound artist but always originally inventive, provides a new limited physical edition of 150 copies for Sound In Silence, a Greece-based independent label specializing in ambient, drone, electronica and challenging post-rock escapism.

Forgiveness explores melancholic and grey textural drone ambiences with a dialogue between processed sounds (notably taken from the piano and the electric guitar), looped electronic patterns and mind-tripping reversed treatments. The sound tapestry reveals astonishingly moving sonic meditations where fragmented, minimal and detached melodies rise at the cryptical noisy drone sounding surface. Minor key melodies interact with cinematic and occasionally hypnotic textures, the whole thing is emotionally effective and touching. Those micro-tonal soundscaping sceneries transport the listener in a world of liturgical quietness and reflective enlightenment which might resolutely seduce fans of soothing and blissed-out electronic textures of Tim Hecker, Celer, Christian Fennesz or Ben Frost. An other great home-made post-ambient release.

Forgiveness is available on Sound In Silence.
