Alg0rh1tm :: Sacrificed For The Whole EP (Onset Audio)

Shuffling through broken beats, muddy bass, and extruded rhythms, here we see mechanized industrial sounds scorched to no end.

Alg0rh1tm (aka Denis Glavčić) molds many familiar dark shapes on the Sacrificed For The Whole extended player with Onset Audio. Shuffling through broken beats, muddy bass, and extruded rhythms, here we see mechanized industrial sounds scorched to no end.

“Aurora” displays an atmospheric and sinister tone with its glitched and fidgety percussion. “Tesseract” dribbles across with minimal bass thumps and drifting echoes as GhoulCut collaborates on the cavernous data streams of “Clockwork”—elongated low-end rumbling and mysterious drones fade in and out. On the more nimble and lighter side of the platter, Glavčić exudes a jazzier drum and bass dynamic on “Gladia’s Theme” which doesn’t rest entirely in the foreground. Instead, it meshes the muffled sounds that early Squarepusher and Amon Tobin fans might recognize. Charcoal electronics dusted with molten bass remnants and eroded voices is evident on the contagious “Hypnagogia”—an abstract slice of audible bits and bobbles pervade. But just as Sacrificed For The Whole might come across as melting continuous substructures of bass, noise, and sonic debris, an industrial tilt takes place on the brooding bass manifest of “Limbic Democracy.” Elsewhere you’ll find dub fractures and strained rumbling noises on “Noir,” a gentle yet powerful tune for late night consumption.

In all, Alg0rh1tm’s latest is an industrialized dub melting pot, merging dark bass, glitch, drone, and abstract formations into a cohesive whole.
