TRANSIENT FORCE :: Darker side of electro

1708 image 1(05.23.08) Transient Force is a label that is quite new to the world of electronics. The US imprint is the offspring of AS1 . The label has already turned many heads, with its blend of alienated electro and dark floor electronix. Gosub gave the label its second release, with more artists being quickly added to the rotor. So, how is the rise of this label fairing? Electro is a difficult sound to pin down, and there are a lot of pedants out there when it comes to the sound. Some want only minimal electro, others only electro disco, some believe that Underground Resistance cannot be surpassed while dutch electro is the be all and end all for others. In this mixed environment of opinion where do the men of Transient Force stand?

The label owner zapped the first vinyl currents of electrical life into Transient Force with “Eyes of Man,” a broody electro world exploring the dark and sinister side of electronics. The melodies hold a psychological terror, pulling back folds of analogue warmth to reveal the cold mechanical organs of the electro machine. Clever sampling and great composition make “Eyes of Man” a great foundation on which the label can grow. Shad T. Scott, aka Gosub, was next up for Transient Force with his Night Mal’ach EP. Fresh from his Watcher from the Black Universe LP, Gosub serves up more of his Dopplereffekt style electro. The tracks hold that clinical stripped electro whilst keeping a beat and melody that keeps the listener safely uneasy. Hadamard, aka Janko Bartelink, completes, the so far, triumvirate of wax releases on Transient Force. Bartelink may be known to some for his electro releases on The Hague based imprint Bunker Records. For Transient Force, in the guise of Hadamard, Bartelink continues with his style of unhinged and unnerving electro. Hadamard offers up a futuristic disjointed electro of fearful beats and some awesome soundscapes to produce something intense.

Transient Force are keeping their catalog stocked up with some recent CD-R releases, such as AS1ï¿1/2s album My Galaxy To Yours and a debut piece of electro by Spectre313 in the form of Pacemaker. AS1 brings more electro sharpness to the speaker cones while Spectre313 offers up 24 shards of samples, beats, cuts, glitch and electro. Two various artists CD-Rs have been released too, Ten Volt and a mix of past releases, Something Simple 1/10, blended by Wreck. For those vinyl junkies Transient Force is set to return to the wax format very soon. First up, for Summer 2008, is a release from a favorite electro producer FDBK, aka Feedback from the Minimal Rome camp. Following this, later in the year, Stingray313 aka DJ Stingray or Drexiyan DJ Stingray, will be serving up his brand of Detroit electro for the Transient Force camp.

Transient Force is not just a label producing and promoting the darker side of electro, it is a label producing and promoting its own slant on the darker side of electro. American culture, the information world, high technology and modern life are tied up and reflected in Transient Forces chilling and dissociating sound. For anyone looking for dark electro, the search is over.
