MYCELIUM MUSIC :: Fungus breeds positive frequencies

Mycelium Music is a collective of producers from around the world that have been inspired by the mycelial networks of the Pacific Northwest.

Mycelium Music‘s first compilation came out on the Winter solstice in late 2012 and now they have received the second volume on the Summer solstice in June 2013. Both compilations have featured an eclectic mix of psydub, IDM and ambient tracks. In their Bandcamp, Mycelium Music founder David Parker explains that “Mycelium Music is a collective of producers from around the world that have been inspired by the mycelial networks of the Pacific Northwest.” Each track feels hand crafted for this compilation and seems to even stray from the typical style for the artists on the album. It seems very clear that this compilation was designed as a chilled out psychedelic journey for the mind, body and heart through the underground network of mycelium that encompasses the entire planet. Many of the artists involved with this project are quickly becoming rising stars in the ever expanding transformational festival culture. This album also features some spectacular visual art work from Psybe Visual Art out of New York.

This compilation is donating all of its proceeds to a very unusual but important cause, the non-profit Amazon Mycorenewal Project. This non-profit is working in Ecuador to clean up an immense amount of damage caused by petroleum extraction at the mouth of the incredibly diverse Amazon River, using mycelium. The goal of Amazon Mycorenewal Project is to educate indigenous people in the region as well as students and scientists around the world in ways to use mushrooms to clean up pollution using fungi.

More information about the issues in Ecuador can be found here and here. More art from Adam Psybe can be found here.
