LGBT Rights for Russia Now!

“They’re so tired of shooting protest singers,” Elvis Costello once sang, “that they hardly mention us.” And yet what can they do but keep singing—or playing, at least—and keep ducking. In reaction to the near-unanimous passing of what amounts to Russia’s anti-gay answer to Hitler’s Nuremberg Laws, Robin Rimbaud, aka Scanner, announced in his latest newsletter the release of a “24 track compilation, LGBT Rights for Russia Now!, featur[ing] works by Legowelt, Hieroglyphic Being, Leyland James Kirby, Perc and many others, to support [the] advocacy group that organizes Moscow’s gay pride parade and campaigns in the light of Russian’s increasingly discriminatory policies.” I’d also highly recommend tracks by Huerco S. and Scanner himself, of course.
