Day For Night 2016 :: December 17-18 (Houston, TX)

Day For Night, though only in its second year, is presenting a world-class lineup of forward-looking music and visual art.

Day For Night 2016 :: December 17-18 (Houston, TX)

Organized by Free Press Houston and Work-Order, the festival offers a weekend of live music on four stages (both indoor and outdoor) and a large array of visual art installations.

As its two biggest headliners this year, Day For Night selected UK IDM pioneer Aphex Twin (making his first US appearance since 2008) and Icelandic pop legend Björk (providing DJ sets and an exhibition of video and VR works). Both artists are singular, iconoclastic figures who have each reinvented electronic music in their own ways, and have released groundbreaking and influential work since the early 1990s.

Other highlights of the music lineup: John Carpenter (touring and enjoying new recognition as a composer after a long career as a filmmaker), Squarepusher, RZA, Run the Jewels, Arca, Oneohtrix Point Never, Matmos, Tycho, Liars, Lightning Bolt, the Jesus and Mary Chain, Little Dragon, Tobacco, ODESZA, Kaskade, and over 50 other music performances. Texas artists are represented, including S U R V I V E (two of whose members were recently nominated for Grammy awards for their Stranger Things score) and a rare reunion appearance by Butthole Surfers.

Igloo Magazine’s Thomas Fang will shoot photos throughout the event and offer a post-festival visual archive.
