Glowing Overtones is a snapshot of the current experimental-dubstep scene mixed as a continuous sheet of audible electricity.
Chris Bolszo (aka DJ Rubrene) splices forty-three minutes of rhythm-infested bass lines, glitched-out melodies, ricocheting dub, and a plethora of digital manipulation tearing through low-riding overtones. Taking disjointed percussion to the limit and tying them together with a creative overflow, DJ Rubrene delivers deconstructed electronics by displaying darkened grooves throughout. The artwork (also created by Rubrene) is a visualization of the music; color representing melodies, glow and streaks representing rhythmic percussive intensity and the dark background (void) of space is the ominous and overwhelming presence of low frequencies (bass). It’s all open to interpretation with the focus on bass pressure to relieve the stress of everyday life.
