Ahnst Anders :: Home (Ant-Zen)

Ahnst Anders manifests sparse tribal-dub (in the strain of Einoma / Tzolk’in) and aged electronics by excavating the dark burrows, crevasses and fractures from his machinery.

Ahnst Anders 'Home'

[Listen | Purchase] Home is Ahnst Anders fifth release and third for Ant-Zen, an album that finds the artist redefining his view of rhythmic bass and interspersed ambient noise. This redefinition is quite appropriate seeing that the artist wrote this collection during a time of personal change. Home may very well be interpreted as a resurgence from past releases, but more importantly, its overall mood slides across the spectrum like a glacier scraping downwards on loose soil.

It’s the vastness buried between each diffused track that elevates these audible membranes into a realm of their own. Like panoramic views of a cold, desolate winter in the mountains, Home leads the way through shredded grooves and offers chiseled bass lines guiding its trajectory throughout. While each track stands firm on its own, thudding rhythms and moldy beats spill easily upon the ears and Home ultimately becomes best appreciated as one swift listening experience. Ahnst Anders manifests sparse tribal-dub (in the strain of Einoma / Tzolk’in) and aged electronics by excavating the dark burrows, crevasses and fractures from his machinery. The result is an album that grasps the heartstrings and disorients the mind with its concoction of surreal audio annihilation.

Home is out now on Ant-Zen. [Listen | Purchase]
